Pilates for Neurological Conditions is an advanced teacher training program for exercise professionals and physical therapists overviewing exercise for MS, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological conditions. The course covers the disease process in depth, as well as how to work with its most common symptoms, including balance difficulties, weakness, muscle spasticity, bladder problems, gait abnormalities, as well as the principles and applications of neuromuscular rehabilitation and neuroplasticity in exercise.

Since the course covers so many problems common to the average student, teachers will benefit with tools to work with students of nearly every population, especially the aging, and those with neurological conditions or muscle imbalances. Pilates for Neurological Conditions is recognized with 16 CECs (continuing education credits) from the Pilates Method Alliance. It is also credit towards the Women’s Health Pilates Specialist Certificate™ through the Center for Women’s Fitness.

A companion 300+ page reference textbook with hundreds of exercises is included in the course fee (retail value of $269). Participants earn the certificate of “Specialist in Pilates-Based Exercise for Neurological Conditions.”

About Mariska Breland

Mariska Breland – the content creator – is a comprehensively certified Pilates instructor (BASI training, certified through the PMA), with dual mentorships with Master teachers Julian Littleford and Jennifer Kries. She has additional training in movement strategies for amputees and traumatic brain injury; Pilates for injuries and pathologies; pre- and postnatal Pilates; as well as training protocols for athletes and for men.
